MISSION STATEMENT
The Charlotte Senior Center is a unique community gathering place where seniors enrich their lives through conversation, good food, and a wide variety of activities.
Inspired by Walter B. Irish’s vision and the interests of people who walk through the door, activities range from chair yoga to painting lessons to foreign language conversation to hiking. And much much more.
The Center flourishes through the support of Charlotte taxpayers and active participants from beyond the town borders who donate time, expertise, and money. The relaxed and supportive atmosphere of the Center is buttressed by a legion of volunteers whose teamwork exhibits Walter Irish’s example of how one person can make a difference. Their work allows the Center to open its doors for a richness of community activity five days a week from 8:30 to 4. This common commitment to volunteer tasks, ranging from answering the phone to planting flowers to washing dishes to fiscal management, supports a vibrant community of elders eager to share experiences and learn new things. The Center also engages the wider community with a variety of youth initiatives and its availability for local events.
